I wouldn’t ordinarily enter a photoblog competition, as my photography skills are rudimentary at best. But having been nominated by the Queen of Turkey Bloggers, Natalie at Turkish Travel Blog, how could I refuse?
The challenge from Travelsupermarket was to submit a photo for each color – red, blue, green, yellow and white. Okay, here goes…
Red: Trier’s Carnival
Trier, the oldest city in Germany, celebrates carnival in a big way, with costume parades for several days. These Roman soldiers allude to Trier’s history as an important city during the ancient Roman Empire.
Green: Umbria
I took this shot outside our hotel in Umbria during my week in Umbria for the TBU blogger Convention.
Blue: Mykonos
I was singing in a Festival on the island of Syros in Greece, and took a boat ride to the more famous Island of Mykonos. Blue doors and windowpanes accented almost all the white buildings.
Yellow: Grand Central Station
Yellow was a tough one for me, but then I noticed this gleaming yellow light coming through the windows at Grand Central Station in Manhattan, my home town.
White: Saklikent
Okay, I realize snow is probably a bit of a cop-out for white, but I figured since I didn’t use any of my many seaside shots of the blue Mediterranean I could get away with this. Saklikent is a ski resort about an hour’s drive from Antalya, where I leave on the seaside. It feels like a different world.
The final part of my assignment is to nominate five other bloggers to participate. Here they are:
